Simon Boccanegra at the Sydney Opera House with 3 Days Notice Before Opening Night!
Natalie Aroyan made her second VERDI Debut at the Sydney Opera House portraying Amelia Grimaldi in Simon Boccanegra. Due to the sudden disposition of Internationally acclaimed Soprano Barbara Frittoli, Natalie was giving few days notice before given the opportunity to take over the role and perform all nine performances.
Natalie Aroyan made one of her finest performances with Opera Australia in this role, and cemented her position as a true Verdi soprano. The Australian noted “Her voluptuous tone and fluid phrasing created a vivacious portrayal of the opera’s most appealing character” and Broadway World Review believed “She exudes sensitivity and also strength to show love, hope, sadness and compassion, and also stand up to the fighting men.”
